Re: Explain cyberpunk to pirx so he can sell it to old peopl

was there ever a good representation on screen? i can only think of the numbers scrolling down onscreen in the matrix, which actually worked well, particularly given that we always see them in the context of someone 'reading' them edit: @ CMYK yeah i get that but bela was talking about representatio...

solutions to the cyberpunk problem

yeah it's 'culturally significant' but i can't read the awful genre prose (and anyway far too late to start now). post useful manifestations (films, tv, twitter accounts, memes, gifs, buzzfeed listicles etc). please be discriminating, i watched a whole season of mr robot on a teen recommendation and...

Re: News/Current Events, discussion (Bullets, Ballots & Bomb

im sure that's true but once you get into longer term prognostications it seems like all bets are off anyway? was talking to a guy from the treasury a few weeks ago who says the EU still has vast problems that have just been papered over and the very nature of the union prevents any effective soluti...

Re: News/Current Events, discussion (Bullets, Ballots & Bomb

interesting that none of the dire economic problems thought to be the inevitable consequence of brexit have materialised yet, remember all that osborne/lagarde stuff about house prices falling 30% etc. could be that its still to come. economic forecasting is about as post-truth as it gets though fro...

Re: random fashion jersey tucks

you have to understand how things work within corporations. wall street analysts care about one thing: profits. if your top line is not growing, as of course it won't be sometimes, then you better be saving on costs. if you can demonstrate that you've cut several million dollars a year from your pro...

Re: What are you reading today/book club

nope i would prob take the opposite position on your borges point, i think the whole conceit of slipping a philosophical idea into a kipling-esque narrative becomes a bit one-note and predictable after a while, and prefer the move back into straight folkloric territory. dunno if you saw what we wer...

Re: We don't run on this high street; we run this high stree

yes, if you're looking for something more substantial i recommend this (obviously much much nicer) , but feel like it's proper outerwear whereas the cos one can be worn indoors. i like all felted wool so room for both
