Re: Lift things up and put them down.

nucktux I find doing a very low weight, high rep set on leg press loosens my upper legs up nicely for deadlifts. 8 months seems like a long time with no improvement, try looking up a program or something. just make sure from starting position you take a deep inhale and hold it to engage your core, ...

Re: What are you reading today/book club

Think it took me about a year but I just finished INFINITE JEST. Congrats man! It's such an amazing book, but it does take a lot of work... Infinite Jest has been sitting on my bedside table for the last three years after I read 250ish pages and then got distracted. Maybe I'll do this. Do it! I did...

Re: Lift things up and put them down.

After eight months of no progress on deadlifts (admittedly, deadlifting irregularly), I went up ten kilos in each of my last three sessions, maxing out at 120kgx1 and then 105kgx6 sets last Monday. The lessons: form is king, and try accessorizing with deficit deads and glute activation exercises. I'...

Re: Lift things up and put them down.

Happy with the gym right now. In every day but sundays, getting in my TDEE for breakfast and lunch, so dinner = surplus. Somehow my numbers aren't going up as fast as I'd expect them to, but they never have. Not thinking too much in terms of numbers, really, more just making sure all the pieces of t...

Re: Best of WAYWT

MMM/Adriaan Kuiters (South African brand)/Gitman Bros Vintage/Stephan Schneider http://i.imgur.com/eWN9Csy.jpg I like how school-prefect the tie is, but I ended up taking it and the glasses off before I went out. On another note, Schneider is the fucking bomb. I can't wait for it to be warm enough t...

Re: What are you reading today/book club

Just read The Crying of Lot 49 yesterday. For Pynchon fans, should I just jump into Gravity's Rainbow? I'm about to start, we can be confused together. Just finished Man's Search for Meaning, Viktor Frankl's story of his experience in the concentration camps and the psychotherapeutic theory he deve...

Re: What are you reading today/book club

Just finished The Pale King, now on to Pale Fire. Nothing to do with the titles - I was motivated to get PF by a really good conversation about it on the Wallace-l listhost. Rublev, interesting to see you're enjoying Pamuk's Istanbul - it's actually the only book I put down in 2013 without finishing...

Re: 2014 Style Resolutions

Quit it with the boring "plain shorts + 'Enfield Tennis Academy' tee + rod lavers" thing. Get my wardrobe in shape for a hot climate and grow my hair out while I'm still a filthy backpacker. Run more, lift more, eat more, read more, write more. Move to LA.

Re: a/s/l: the new member introduction zone

Hey all! I'm a student from the UK, studying in the US but taking a year off right now. Can't usefully give you a location as such, because I'm travelling the whole year, but I'm in Cape Town at the moment. I study philosophy, particularly the philosophy of art and literature (I've done a lot of ana...
