Re: Musicians' thread

sparkyoriental I don't disagree with most of what you're saying. Lessons, instruction, learning technique would be great for starting out with any new thing. I guess the gist of what I'm saying is that just because there is a risk that you can damage your voice it doesn't mean you will definitely d...

Re: Musicians' thread

I'm going to have to disagree with this advice. it's easy to damage your vocal cords and honestly you're not going to progress w/o a coach It depends what your goal is. Judging by his musical tastes (blues, rock) I don't think he needs a vocal coach to start. I mean I'm just going by my own experie...

Re: Musicians' thread

I've always wanted to learn how to sing but I have no idea how to start, without a teacher. I've googled around and checked out singing forums and stuff, but they basically just scream "YOU NEED A TEACHER OR YOU WILL LITERALLY DIE IF YOU TRY SINGING" whenever anyone asks how to start. Jus...

Re: Musicians' thread

I've mentioned before that I used to write music a lot. I haven't had much time the last few years but as my kids get older and I slowly get a little more time to myself I'm getting back into the swing of things. I think I'm finally going to finish an album this year that I've had almost done for ye...

Re: feeltalk thread

mawx - how did you get started with writing your own music? I write and sing and play and whatever. Don't stress about it or try to create anything. Sounds like you're putting too much pressure on yourself to create and I've found that rarely produces anything good. Sounds kinda lame but you just g...

Re: Hardcore grinding

- Slow walkers on city sidewalks. Worse than slow walkers are slow walkers who don't walk in a straight line so as you try to pass they end up right in front of you. - Left side of the escalator standers. It's understood in the city that standers stay right. Where I live in the burbs EVERYONE stands...

Re: feeltalk thread

@CleanThug you don't have to be defined by your hobbies. Most people aren't. You're young, man. Just enjoy your hobbies while you do. It doesn't say anything about you as a person if you're not interested in the same stuff in 5 years.

Re: Best of WAYWT

Absolutely agree with everyone regarding my boots. All I have are these or Iron Rangers which, in retrospect, probably would have actually worked a bit better. Some wedge sole Yuketen boots are on my list. As always I appreciate the feedback!

Re: Films

Buffalo '66 is one of my all-time favorites. Written, directed, starring Vincent Gallo, who is a pretty interesting guy (or a huge egotistical douche depending on how you choose to view him). So many great scenes - tap dancing Christina Ricci, dinner with his parents, Ben Gazzara singing (audio is ...

Re: Engineered Garments F/W14

I love it. Really strong throughout. I think it's pretty in line with what they always do with a few departures (wtf leopard print?). The velvet stuff is fun and definitely verging on too cheeky but that's kind of the appeal. Thought I recall seeing them do velour or velvet pants before but I can't ...

Re: Hair

@McOdsen
edit in what your routine is this time around?

I rinse with water whenever it feels dirty. Usually once a day, sometimes every other day. That's it.

Getting close to the longest I've ever had it. Looks way better this time around though since I had no idea how to take care of my hair last time and it looked like a 70s cut.

Re: ramdom fashion thoughts

I don't think its reprehensible to dress your kids fashionably but it is a huge waste of money. Kids outgrow stuff so fast and ruin all their clothing with food, piss, shit, blood, vomit and general clumsiness. On top of that I just want my kids to be comfortable so it's mostly just sweatpants and c...

@Bryan you like her. She likes you. See where it goes. No need to talk to her about it right now. Don't let your head get in the way. Of course a relationship will be odd if you've never been in one. Just let it play out.

Re: Music, Conversation

Hey, hey, there's a difference between knowing a few songs and "getting into" a band and knowing everything about them. I was listening to all gangsta rap at the time and couldn't be bothered with anything like that. My bro was learning to play guitar and listening to them constantly. I th...

Re: Music, Conversation

chinese democracy-era live videos are always good for some rough chuckles It's pretty sad if that's what people identify them with today. I really can't tell. The band really ended somewhere between 1993-1995. Now it's just a musical vehicle for a deranged individual. Axl used to be a good songwrit...

Re: Music, Conversation

I heard November Rain on the radio and I've been on a huge Guns N' Roses kick. I'm probably the only person here who can actually get nostalgic about music from 1992. As an older person I wonder if people today realize how huge Guns N' Roses were because they only released 2 official albums (countin...
