Re: random fashion jersey bibs

Boomerangs in Boston is such a good thrift store, to the point where I can pass these up for various reasons and feel like the gold rush hasn't peaked. But damn. Feels like a crime to walk in, see all of this at one time for a total of $20 and then walk out with none of it (not in reselling game any...

Re: Cultural appropriation

An Al Jazeera opinion piece just took on this topic as well. Some interesting points for me as an "artist," some questionable things for me as an activist: After all, to suggest that it is "authentic" for blacks to wear locks, or for Native Americans to wear a headdress, but not ...

Re: fashion x race

I do feel kind of weird about that Rick Owens 2014 show that while, acknowledging race, appeared a bit too tribal/primitive/"angry black woman." Especially because its all the brainchild of a very white, artsy man.

Re: Coffee and tea-vee

Over the course of my household's switch from coffee to tea, I've learned my room mate is actually an uncivilized maniac who drinks Red Rose or other breakfast/afternoon black teas WITHOUT milk. And the teapot lid has mysteriously disappeared, so now we've got saucers pulling double duty. These are ...

Re: "Feminine" For Everyone

I find that, as a man thrifting in the women's section, there are plenty of opportunities when it comes to denim/leather jackets and some sweaters, but shirts and pants and most things with buttons just don't sit right. I enjoy adding some "middle ground" to my aesthetic, but I don't think...

Re: Post Skate - An Oral History

When Post Skatoids aren't reliving the Glory Days with the Yeah Right! soundtrack in their walkman or polishing their Keith Haring Alien Workshop deck series on the wall, are they attending Fancy Lad premieres in black on black chucks or... blucher mocs?

Re: Feelings

It's great to see people taking steps to seek support through therapy. I swear by my cognitive behavioral therapist. He's saved my life. That said, it's been a rough winter. Lots of family health issues, being a local news reporter sucks and the company I work at is a dead end and winter has increas...

Re: Style flintstone

like haute cuisine (I've read a lot of articles about how miserable it is to be a woman breaking in2 ~fancy cooking~), classical music, or fine art, fashion is the men's-space artistic idealization of something that's expected to be, at a low level, labor for women. This thread is changing my life....

Re: a/s/l: the new member introduction zone

Name is Sam. 25 y/o and split between Boston/Cape Cod. news reporter/DIY musician I recently deleted my reddit account and left MFA. I appreciate fashion from more of an art/hobby/history/politics point of view rather than perfecting fits/"copping. Big fan of thrifting, vintage and Scandi desig...
