Big fan of the black vans slip on for a while. (Do sometimes think about getting white ones again though)

Vans slip on top tip is to put a thermal insole in for winter.

I have moved to the non vegan suede slips because they do seem to last longer (Upper outlasts the sole, but you can patch a sole more easily/discretely)

keep the shoelaces like that, they're so long they'll get stuck in the spokes of your redacted. wrap them around your ankles and tie them, you look really dumb. these shoes are quite the trolley problem

Reverse the direction on the last hole (outside to inside) and tie them underneath the tongue.

update: i found a pair of our legacy vans my friend gave me that are too nice and shiny to ever wear out in public and swapped the laces out on em.

Finally bought loafers that actually fit. These definitely hit a sweet spot for me stylistically. Leather isn’t shiny and will look even better as they get beat to shit. Split toe adds a bit of edge/interest. Toe box is slightly narrow but I can feel it opening up a bit as I wear them more. Also they’re black and I got them on sale. Good summer shoe for work.

Finally after a decade+ I figured out my size (8.5EEE Truebalance last/Indy model) in Alden’s. Too bad most dress shoes/boots don’t fit me.
