I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color.

what's the subcultural significance of the mohair cardigan? they're cool on their own but there's gotta be an influence if supreme has made so many. is it a kurt cobain thing?

I'd say kurt cobain is the major cultural influence. but mohair is also just plain NICE fiber

Many care tags luminates such as illiam and oucho have them. They are light enough for summer probably though they're not "lightweight"

hi flaxsisters.

a japanese friend of mine is in tokyo this week and is offering to buy stuff for me. questions: where can i direct him to get either Comme Black of North Face Purple label? More importantly, is there a place in tokyo that has an online store (so i can look at their inventory) and then direct my buddy to purchase?

@Iliam they do have comme black here in the states but i've heard it's significantly cheaper (i'm talking like 50% off or something) in japan. can anyone confirm?

not super fashion related, but here goes: I need some loose, lightweight pants and long sleeved shirts (not button downs) for doing fieldwork in a conservative part of the middle east. any recommendations? preferably something that's at least somewhat aesthetically appealing and breathes well for desert summers. I'm familiar with the basic outdoor brands (patagonia, la sportiva, prana, bla bla) but i'd like something a bit less practical looking. thus far i've primarily worked in cold wet climates so my old stuff doesn't really apply.

I'm going to expand on some stuff that I've learned from working in the heat. I mainly do maintenance things so I don't know exactly what work you'll be doing but this might be helpful. DO NOT buy a pair of denim for this. I work in jeans in the sun every summer and it's one of the worst things. Sure they're tough but they breathe terribly and are terrible when wet or sweaty. Once again but if you'll be spending a lot of time outside try to find something as light and breathable as possible. You said conservative but I would consider sleeves anyways and consider getting an under armor for hot weather. Some of my coworkers love them. Probably something with a brim all around, nothing worse than a burnt ass head and neck. I have no idea on brands but in terms of pure practicality this is what I know.

Anyone (@trasparenti?) familiar with Sulvam sizing. TTS? Interested in a side-slit coat from last season.

I need wool clothing like I need a brush with poison ivy, but does anyone here have any firsthand experience with Vietnam paratrooper covered front pockets? Are they as much of an annoyance as I'd imagine they are? I pull out my phone repeatedly and I don't need a rain cover in sunny Southern California.

more like ww2 paratrooper pockets outlier  never seen vietnam era battle dress pants with front flap pockets in my life

personally don't like that kind of pocket. really fussy, but I guess its nice to not have your effects fall out

i'm okay with flap covered pockets like those.
every trouser i've owned with flaps on the front pocket openings like that have had stowable flaps, though. makes a difference. not sure where outlier stands on the matter.

Where should I look for a price check on a 1998 Helmut Lang piece?

Spoiler:
Seen pics of it on the runway so thinking it could be worth a fair bit but it rly isn't my area of expertise
