When you don't post the brands ppl 100% of the time assume the brands are more expensive than they are, so there's a humble modesty to listing the brands.

Also I feel like people used to always ask what brand things were, because they were looking for the Perfect Blue OCBD and thought you had similar frames. People never seem to care anymore.

I think that listing the brands can be Part Of The Conversation.

Two identical oufits but one is

"VISVIM VISVM VISVM (VISVIM SOCKS NO VIS)"

And the other is "Thrift, my mom's wedding dress, rick owens" are saying very different things.

on bigger forums where you don't know most of the users the brand list can be used to decide whether to click on the imgur link or not (with heads usually getting a click regardless).

what is considered a good brand list vs a bad brand list is a controversial topic, of course.

2015: spend 20 minutes trying to get the best location, angle, lighting, and everything else and then take the pic
2021: spend 3 minutes propping your camera up on a chair outside with a self-timer, and then the remaining 17 on photoshop making the picture look really cool and further your aesthetic with very minimal effort and technical prowess

All threads produce fitpics; all fitpics emergence from language and the world [an opening exists here for generative, aleatory, and otherwise anti-authorial fitpics]; The Fitpic Thread [which in actuality is known by many names other than its own] demands attention and critique towards a theory of those qualities The Fitpic Thread exists at the extremity of ('posting fits' for example, but not wordlessness, certainly not wordlessness). Care-tags comes fitted with only two categories: "care" in one hand, "tags" in the other. It has since been carved into an ocean.

The poster defines themselves in and/or in the shadow of The Fitpic Thread, through and/or towards posting; but even those who don't post in The Fitpic Thread codetermine it and ground its joys, the permanent underclass might not make reputation but counterinforms it. The REPUTATION TOPLIST has a tail not long but formless-and-so-forming, and its face has another side.

the best move is to list the brands as acronyms no normal person could possibly parse

I used to post brands back in the old MFA days to avoid getting messages asking 'hey where did you get those Nike shorts from'

Nowadays I tend to avoid brands as my clothes are vintage or just too shamefully cheap to endorse.

I actually had a fit pic deleted from /malefashion as it wasn't 'avant-garde' enough, though I have a feeling if I had randomly replaced my pieces with 'higher' brand names it wouldnt have been purged

the real pro move is to routinely post $5000+ visvim (or rick or thom or whatever) hauls in the recent purchases thread, and then literally never post a fit pic.
