2005 - 'Kinky Boots', a film about British made shoes for drag queens, is released.

2007 - the menswear blogosphere's obsession with fine crafted footwear explodes.

Coincidence?

Do certain brands/looks hew closer to the idea of "objective aesthetics" than others and can this be used as a metric to denigrate or commend a brand/look?

If a brand only releases limited sizing/creates heavily adjustable garments it could be said they are less reliant on "objective aesthetics"?

Why do "objective aesthetics" persist as a metric for judging the value of clothes when they're obviously garbage? ( see Trauma Based Aesthetics, Conceptual Garment Working Group, University of Bantwerp in the Journal of Care Memes Vol XIIC )

With a friend getting late night ramen when I saw a dude with a Supreme pullover and Yeezy 350 boosts. I wanted to get a shot of the dude since I rarely see ~fashion~ in real life. Friend didn't see what the big deal was and I didn't get a good image :(

John Cage vs "objective aesthetics":

“I want to free my music from my memory and taste and from my likes and dislikes so that my music, instead of saying something that I have to say or expresses me, changes me.”

I really like Henrik Vibskov headwear. I would never actually wear it because that would be silly, but I would own it, and look at it sometimes.

Probably because the only thing I looked at on Sainsbos was those trousers (so reasonable... I could find a use for some blue jeans...) and Sainsbos knows it and is now following me around the internet being like "go on m8 go onn"

But I am staying strong and waiting for the belapants

Ah. I assumed that Bobbin had paid for a little placement thru Federated Media or some such service. I had forgotten he'd been picked up by some digital ecommerce guys. Good call, Bels.

while doing some internet digging on reebok pumps (as i habitually look at the "pump oxt" model only to remember the new make-ups are nothing compared to the brighter, more distinctly offroad ones) i find this photo c/o sneakerfreaker:

yeah, the chanel pump furys aren't news to me but it's a reminder that the older sole units (compare on these to current releases) are more my cup of tea

i have a weird way of forcing myself to wear different things everyday (and stuff i forgot i had)

basically, I HAVE to wear whatever shirt is on the furthest right of my closet (most accessible), then i can chose pants, shoes jacket to go with it.

When i am done w said shirt, i send it to the back and the cycle repeats. Its brought out some interesting ideas, some of which i will share at a later date

for us subscribers of netflix, the fresh dressed documentary is available. if you haven't seen it, it offers a lot of insight into the history and development of streetwear - and the implications surrounding it socially with respect to race and class. features interviews with some of your favs like yeezy, pharrell, pusha t, p diddy, nas, and etc (and yes, there are some really good kanye quotes to be had. THANK U RALPH)

For those of us with this hobby, have we fallen in to some sort of consumerist trap? If we have I don't really mind it myself, as it doesn't negatively affect me and brings me enjoyment. But I see a lot of argument that the idea of fashion is just consumerism and nothing more which I like to believe it's not.
