Not a designer perhaps but is there anything I should know about A Kind of Guise?

Every time I see something about them, I very much like their styling and their pieces appear to have the middle-range, one-off character people seem to love in Our Legacy, yet I've found very little to read about them. Would love to see a video or text interview or other content they've produced. Thanks in advance. :*)

Finishing up a presentation on Raf Simons for my fashion class and I realize I know very little about his work at both Jil Sander and Dior, especially womenswear at both. Does anyone know any articles or other pieces of reading that would illuminate the themes/major ideas/notable shows at Jil and Dior? Anyone have any relevant personal knowledge? Thanks in advance.

From Wikipedia

"Polo" Ralf Simons is a Belgian born fashion enthusiast best known for his complex, plot driven novels and screenplays. He graduated in 2003 from Central St Martins, Antwerp with an MFA in computer science. His graduating class included Marky Mark Margiela (Maison Marky Mark), AGVS (AGVS group), Coco "Pops" Chanel (Kellogs) and Sergei Brin (Facebook). These five were known as "The Famous Five" due to the scrapes they got into (and out of!) in the years following their graduation and were the third wave of Belgian creative entrepreneurs to emerge following the rejuvenation of the country's fashion industry as set in motion by Dries Van Syeknom.

After graduating, Simons started an internship at a local ship builder, writing user manuals for the then top secret British Trident class nuclear submarines. However a misclick in the styles and formatting menu led to him accidentally selecting Comic Sans as the font for bullet pointed lists and he found himself inspired by the "Easy going and louche nature"[1] of the typeface. Soon after he quit his job and moved to Cuba, where he wrote his first novel "The Avengers, Rise of Ultron" which won the National Book Award in his native Belgium.

He took a "year-long" sabbatical back in 2012 (AW12 being his last show) but never came back for another collection. Seems a bit odd because he was really starting to get big after his carhartt and supreme collabs. I know smiles is a fan so he might be able to weigh in but idk what else there is really to say

This is all off the top of my head while vaguely tired so some info may be incorrect.

Paul Harnden owns the label Paul Harnden Shoemakers... based in England his designs are some sort of arte povera as his designs are based off 19th century or so English peasants. The blazers are often short, boxy, and crumpled. I believe you button the bottom button. Pants are large and meant to be cinched at the waist like Yohji. He does some weird stuff like fruit prints sometimes.

His ex-designer or something was Elena Dawson. She took credit for making his clothing patterns (he's a shormaker, remember?). Supposedly they aren't on talking terms and the brand stagnated after she left.

The Era Harnden looks at is muddled.... clothes can't really be pointed into one specific time period.

Prices have been going up as hype increases.

He makes all sorts of clothes but people mostly only buy his bottoms and outerwear, it seems.... at least if I use the second hand market as any indication.

He's worked with a number of people. I believe he trained or at least employed Australian Andrew McDonald. He's done at least a collaboration with CdG.

He does men's and women's clothes. If I recall, a lot of his pieces are unisex as the only dif wrench for some pieces are the size. Everything else is the same. I think this mostly applies to his mac coats and blazers. Not sure.

His "signature" design nod or whatever is a leather button at the baback of his coats.

Similar brands include Elena Dawson (surprise, surprise) and Bergfabel, owned by Klaus Plank... the brother of Reinhard Plank.

Cav Empt's designer Sk8thing. Raised in Japan, currently residing in London. As a child he saw the Phantom of the Opera at the cinema and identified with them and became interested in "the hidden". He rarely gives interviews or is even seen, and if he is seen he usually covered, face and hands included. He previously worked for Billionaire Boys Club. He likes to hide things in his designs. Jackets and masks are most popular as well as they all contain one spelling mistake. He is a big fan of graphics. One of his proudest moments was seeing his clothes associated with the London Riots. Cav Empt's clothes and lookbooks always seem to exist somewhere between futuristic, techwear, cyber-crimes, etc. He is interested in Hiphop, defjam, and various London subcultures and thats what seems to influence his version of streetwear.

Thats about all that I can recall in my sleep delirious state. Or maybe I am just full of shit.

What's the story with Paraboot? I feel like I'm just noticing them. Maybe I'm oblivious.

What's up with costume national. Is it sweg? Is it "budget garmoids for the yoox conscious" ? Is it French? Japanese? (It's Italian) Is it "Zara for people who want to waste money" ? Is it owned by Renne Russo? Is it flying under the radar or is it just wack as fuck?

Final Home. I often see it associated with Issey miyake, but does he design it? From the stuff I’ve found online it looks like it ended in 2015? Where can I go for more information? I need more pockets in my life.
