not going to pretend like i had any clue what was up when i was out there, but doublet was pretty cool when i saw it. probably some other stuff that was interesting that i glazed over.

also teatora is ideal. if i had the budget i would have bought a set right then and there, but pants + jacket would have been well over 60,000 JPY @ beams

so not yet.

i looked. and touched. that was it. no fitting. didn't want to feel bad + i was dressed like a tourist but in white mountaineering & beams gel mais, if that makes any sense.
some of the beams harajuku (or was it shinjuku?) staff weren't too pleasant (mixed bag, retail good cop + bad cop maybe?) so i didn't want to dilly dally at all

i guess... it comes down to looking at measurements online...

Auralee and comoli are very popular. Polo is huge.

It actually seems that due to the reach of Instagram and such a lot of the influence has reversed direction and now japanese guys are copying ny skaters.

Love wearing clothes that I can get for cheap in the US that fit my vague, instagram addled idea of "cool in Japan "

As far as new brands I like Baku Corona and comfy outdoor garnent. Best way to find new brands is probably following stores I guess?

See a lot of Auralee, Comoli, Yoke, Sunsea, Uru, Graphpaper, Essay, Stein, Digawel, Edwina Horl, and Unused lumped together in YJP listings as SEO. These brands do seem to form some kind of aesthetic cluster, but I can't quite articulate what it is. Could just be Palm Maison core.

Japanese second hand stores have codified clusters of brands.

Auralee, digawel, comoli etc is one

Then there’s like beams, United arrows, yaeca

Local designers (Facetasm, kolor, sacai etc)

Then repro and street wear.

Feel like it's along the lines of excessively high quality and pared down remakes of menswear archetypes or like easy oversized minimal. Sunsea & Digawel kind of the odd ones out but adjacent 4 sure
