Accessorize

Let's talk about all manner of accessories including but absolutely not limited to: scarves, pocket squares (muscle yer chance to shine), ties, rings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, handbags, piercings, gauges, gloves, mittens, the skulls of your enemies, and so on. Glasses have their own thread.

Here we can talk about what accessories we like to wear, show off our accessories, discuss how best to wear/combine them, discuss the nature of accessories and how they can add to/detract from/subvert a coherent outfit, or highlight interesting designers/brands/pieces, etc.

Would especially love to hear from women regarding their jewellery or whatever - it's not a subject we see often enough.

I'd like to start off by showing the work of Joanna Louca who manually weaves artisanal handbags, scarves and sundry.

Joanna Louca woven accessories skillfully combine fine craftsmanship and innovative materials to create a timeless elegance. Elements of every collection are the manually woven textures made of precious, fancy yarns in stripes and jacquard. A harmonious interaction of hand-woven fabrics and leather, which gives unique identity to each handbag.

All the woven fabrics are created entirely by hand on domestic hand looms with yarns of the highest caliber. Hand dyeing and artisan techniques are used to embellish each piece, always providing special attention to detail with strictly defined standards of quality and design with great respect to traditional weaving techniques in sophisticated shapes with pleasing proportions.

She recently did an understandably dark and exclusive capsule collection with avant-garde Cypriot store Black Celebration with some beautiful and massively oversized pieces:

Baller prices and limited (or one-off) collections but some beautiful stuff to look at for sure.

k so my trusty 6-year-old marc jacobs keystrap/fob/chain broke in the middle of the Great Runaway Cat Fiasco of 2014.

here is what it looked like:

Image
(lol)

now i'm looking for a new key fob. the marc jacobs one was actually really awesome because it was very, very sturdy. the button never came undone and the keyring was very strong. i take really bad care of my shit so breakage is always a possibility; with something as important as keys i can't take that risk

i just can't find a key fob that i like. i've found some plain black leather ones on etsy that are backup plans, but i'd like to find something cool. i think i'm being picky:

1. it must be pretty infallible, shit shouldn't even have a chance of possibly becoming undone/falling off
2. minimal branding (none at all preferable)
3. preferably black (if metal, super shiny silver would be okay. also a sucker for holo...lol)
4. not too fussy, i like simplicity (don't like buttons/studs, dangly things, etc)
5. under $30ish, not looking to spend a lot

found this guy while digging around sufu. quite like it but another post says the color rubs off kind of quickly

Image

i also kind of like the marc jacobs carabiners, but they're expensive in the good colors and i wish he didn't have to slap his fucking name on everything

Image

any suggestions?

Million brands make ones in the shape of the one you broke, any reason not to just one like that in black?

Quite like these guys but I'm not sure when they'll restock the black ones or where else to get them.

I wear this necklace fairly often. It's a little bit "etsy" (you can find these on any gimmicky novelty site like vat19 too), but I still like it since I actually play blues harmonica. It's functional and actually plays surprisingly well, though a little high-pitched for my (and most people's) tastes. Made in Germany.

Spoiler:

It was also the first instrument in space

I've had the same marble guages for the last few years that I'm in love with. I've always liked stone as a plug material because it seems very archaic, and true to the roots of ear stretching. I've been looking for a new pair, but don't really know what I want yet.
A few ideas,

The whole story is that in the 1960s he visited the Navajo nation to learn how to make jewelry and undertake Navajo warrior rites, where he became a silversmith - then came back to Japan and started making jewelry
The real reason it's hyped, beyond the base quality, is the same story with a lot of Japanese labels, even today - The right people wore, the right magazines continued to show it (If you're really interested in Goro's, I've seen multiple Japanese magazines devoted solely to Goro's work), hype built, and eventually it was latched onto by a huge group of people, eventually spreading outside Japan - I guess it's comparable to Visvim

Biek Verstappen is a Dutch knitter who makes some truly monstrous scarves/blankets - a lot of hand-felted work with a merino base, her work is stocked by a few places, such as Atelier Solarshop, but Shopsolid's pics showcase her work beautifully

I've been thinking a lot about rings lately as a male, in an ideal world I'd be wearing HUNROD rings
Image
But they're pretty pricey, especially for someone who isn't sure if he really could incorporate rings into their wardrobe.

Instead I'll probably opt for some simple stacked rings from Etsy, but I would like to see some alternatives. Men's jewelry has always been particularly interesting to me, I've just never felt it matched me very strongly.

Exactly like Visvim, which is why this exists:
