look presentable
find a hair style that works well for me
incorporate rings/necklaces/bracelets/jewelry (nonnative?)
look like i'm dressed by wonder mountain irie

although i don't think i'm going to be buying more clothes vs just admiring them it's not a very sustainable lifestyle at this point for me

non style resolutions:
be happier
be healthier

fashion:
continue in a minimizing order; respectfully sell/donate clothes i don't want or wear anymore.
no more random sneaker pickups.
establish a couple uniforms for alternating style preferences.
more patchwork. more cozy.
set staple/grail pieces for next year purchases, start saving individually this year.
look into finding a good cologne that may become a signature (or stay cologne-less).

non-fashion:
workout consistently.
decide on if i want to go to grad school.
branch out of my established friend group.
make more art.

fashion:
-baggier tees
-more cargo shorts
-more pockets in general
-long hair
-cooler shoes, like nb 740's and reebok pumps
-thrift less, no need to have 7 coats that each cost $5 if 4 of them look like ass
-less impulse purchases in general, esp. when i go to college so i can save
-blue moon ice cream stains all over my cheeks, mouth, and tongue
-chief keef pose in every pic i'm a part of

non-fashion:
-under 5:00 in the 500 free by next month, under 4:50 by the end of the year
-overall better outlook on life (graduating hs will definitely help this)

it's likely i'll look back at this in dec. 2015 and think "wtf was i thinking," but that's just another part of evolution

fashion
 • control my color schemes more (monochrome seems to be the best option here)
 • create a "uniform" or a selection of pieces where i could mix and match every single day
 • less coppin' more ballin'
 • learn how to sew, mend, and create garments
2015 is the year of becoming more cohesive, actually

non-fashion in respects of style
 • become recognizable in how i dress and the items that i dress in
 • learn more about what i dress in, what i'm interested in, and how to get to the level of where i'm interested in in terms of making garments
i've come a long way i think
i can't wait to achieve more!

learning to mend/sew is so much fun and especially useful and the best part is that you dont have to be the best! just do the bet you can :-)

i started patching on things i really liked and needed to be patched so i had that incentive to learn. If i bought some thrift pants for a dollar and tore a hole in the knee and couldn't patch it, i would have no problem throwing it away and never learning but if i really love the jacket that i wear almost daily and it's got a hole, i will do whatever it takes to get it fixed.

maybe some would think opposite of this and say "try w cheap stuff until you get it down so you can do it on expensive stuff": which makes sense and is also a valid way of learning.

I say just jump right in.

also - spend less time on the computer. i'm on the computer all day at work, no need to spend time at home on the computer too.

posted the folowing on styleforum so figure i should cross post it here:

Best of the best
-EG Hartford jacket - bought this one on a whim recently and love it. The wool flannel fabric is great and the stitching details make it more interesting than just another blazer. Cut is very slim and cropped, which I absolutely love. Replaced my blackwatch EG with this and am very happy I did as it fits better and fits my wardrobe better IMO.
Image
-EG Derby jacket - not sure if I bought this last year or this year, but I'm still in love. Wool cuffs, warm blanket lining, tough nyco outer. A great jacket to throw on over a knit for when the weather is shit.
Image
-Unis Suede Bomber - went from wanting this to buying it over the course of two sleepless nights and couldn't be happier. A super lightweight suede that makes it very easy to layer and wear in a range of temperatures. I just feel right wearing this piece and hope to keep it for years to come. It also gets by far the most number of compliments of anything I own. Admittedly though, it does just kind of make me ALSO want a leather bomber (HI CONCEPTUAL 4EST)
Image
-Fiorentini and Baker 745 boots - my third pair of F+B and probably my favorite. got them for a steal on ebay and wear them all the time. love the bulbous toe and the color is pretty gorgeous in real life. they look absolutely killer with raw denim, imo.
Image
Always Solid
-Uniqlo slim fit OCBDs - honestly my daily go to shirt. decent fabric and construction, and good fit, and cheap enough that you don't have to worry about them if something happens.
-Unis Gio Skinny - why does the slim fit chino thread still exist?
-Japan Blue denim - unsure of the exact model on these, but even though okayama sent me the wrong size ("the sizing changed so we sent you a different size than you ordered"), the fit has grown on me (very little taper) and I'm really excited to see how these will look with more wear (currently my "office" jeans).

Jury is still out
-EG Bedford - the material on this is an awesome thick wool, but I have to admit I just don't wear this as much as I had hoped. The material is so thick that I can't really layer with it. I'd rather have a lighter weight wool and be able to wear a parka on top for added warmth. We'll see, but I might be letting this one go.
Image
Bad
-Needles Rebuild Jacket - a cool piece...a really cool piece. but i don't have the wardrobe to support it. buying this and also buying the unis bomber kind of convinced me that I want to head in a more normal, dare i say...normcore, direction and not further into the weird japanese/needles world. solid americana-esque basics with cool details is where I want to head and this piece doesn't fit into that.

-EG USN pants - I have one pair of these pants that I got from yoox which are one of my favorite pants. So when I saw these on Rakuten I copped immediately...without checking measurements. These must be from a different season because the leg is much wider. bummer.

2015
less outerwear purchases
less blues, more earth tones
more paying retail for things i really want
more shirts in interesting fabrics
more basics (pants - unis gio skinny, t shirts - vela sheen, OCBDs - uniqlo)
upgrade my knitwear above woolovers
replace my beat to shit grensons with alden indys for office wear
custom crepe sole suede loafers
finally buy a damn denim jacket (spending my next pay check on this)
buy an eg shawl and figure out how to wear it

hey man i know this isn't really the point of this thread but this is pretty important. people don't get depressed for logical reasons where you can say "oh, okay, the source of my depression is my job, if i get a new job my depression will then go away'. i don't want you or anyone else to think they should be able reason themselves out of their depression - that's what treatment and medication and counselling is for and it usually only serves to make people more miserable when they feel like they 'should' not be depressed but can't change that. I don't mean to say don't take action and make yourself get out of the house and do things outside the daily routine but don't feel guilty for not being able to snap out of it!

Try new things with layers. LL Bean flannels over hoodies has quickly become a favorite of mine. Looking forward to trying some stuff with my new turtleneck tee.

I want to figure out how I want to dress. I currently have so many styles I like to look at but none I like to dress in. I want skinny pants, but I don't want my legs to fill them. I don't know if I need to find better fitting pants or work out or what. I just want to develop a style and not wear my raws 4 days a week because I'm too lazy.
