BLESS is a visionary substitute to make the near future worth living for. She is an outspoken female - more woman than girl. She's not a chosen beauty, but doesn't go unnoticed. Without a definite age she could be more between her mid twenties and forties. B. hangs around with a special style of man. She has no nationality and thinks that sport is quite nice. She's always attracted by temptations and loves change. She lives right now and her surroundings are charged by her presence. She tends to be future orientated.

BLESS is a project that presents ideal and artistic values by products to the public.

While potato salad, tea and fruitcake graced the large dining table, it took some time to spot the fashion collection, most of which was worn by the barbecue guests.

There were printed tapestry motifs on down jackets with matching trousers, produced by Crescent Down Works, the U.S. company that normally lends its talent to sportswear but reportedly had “a lot of fun” with the coltish outfits.

As if on cue, the label presented the “hot sausage” look, an elaborate cape-in-coat construction, which rolled up to become a voluminous scarf when unzipped on the sides.

But perhaps the most charming piece was a heavy-knit sleeveless jumper, called “the horizon ball,” which took its name from the generous volumes it offered, matched with braided leather ankle boots. Both items were hand-knitted from a reflective yarn that glows by night and changed color when photographed — which was exactly what the guests were up to.

“We never really have a theme; things just come together,” explained Desiree Heiss, one of Bless’ creative directors, before dashing off to get some guacamole for her grilled meat.

Gobelin Down sweaters, Down vests, Secretaryskirts, Ultrawwidepleated trousers and Pleatbermuda shorts.

Traditional upholstery fabrics applied to classic BLESS clothing, create astonishing new shapes drawn from their characteristic surfaces.
The Down items feel like woven cushions, the shorts resemble rather a skirt. This is thanks to the attitude of the material.
The motifs follow classic Gobelin Landscape scenes such as romantic English gardens and deer-populated forest scenes while others hold Chinese coins and Geisha portraits.

N°00 Furwigs (Pelzperücken)

1996

Their first big break. They purchased pages in several fashion magazines advertising wigs made from Finnracoon fur. they only got three responses - one of which was from Martin Margiela, who asked them to make wigs from old fur coats for his A/W 1997 show

93 racoon furwigs were made and another 50 were made for margiela

Fits every style!
Wear and don't care.

Made from Vlieseline fabric, it was limited to 60 packs of three different styles

The Disposable T-shirts are worn only once. They imply another rhythm of use – throwing clothes away instead of holding onto them like a fetish.

N°03

1997

Image

Fucks up every style! Help yourself!

50 "sets" of assortments

Many parts of the body are involved, especially the face which is usually treated individually from the rest of the body. It is an experimentation in its way of combining various materials, colors, shapes and purposes.
It’s main objective is to push the consumer to express himself in a very personal and creative manner.
In addition to being an accessory as were all the previous products, this set is the perfect synthesis of Bless’s suggestions to making modern day clothing evolve.

Bless says: The set can be worn on all side of the body in whatever way. Try, can't error!

a substitute for a collection in the sense that it brings together all the ideas usually expressed throughout a whole collection in a single product

N°04 Bags

1998

Limited edition of 100 bag systems. Bag A, Bag B , Bag C, Bag D and Bag E (Doorflair)

Image

Image

Image

imitates the deconstructionist style of the time

A, B, C, D and E are bags. Bags are functional products.
Functional products are stylefree. Stylefree means freedom in
fashion. Freedom in fashion could be dangerous without seasonal instruction advices. But missing instruction advices support consciousness in using fashion. Consciousness in using fashion means wearing function as a fashion discussion protector.

users are invited to wear the bags as clothing and to discover new ways of wearing and using the bags

N°05 Subscribe BLESS

1998

Corrupts Every Style! Relax.

BLESS had run out of money

Desiree and Ines created an advertising campaign inviting their customers to subscribe to BLESS - for a one-off fee of DM 1000 (~500eur) subscribers would receive the next four BLESS products, whatever they happened to be, as well as other membership rights

The BLESS Nº 05 is a test of the conviction of BLESS customers to the fashion form that BLESS pioneers. It gives the chance through investment into the future design of BLESS to prove the relevance of trust and the faith of customers. The pre-financing through subscription helps BLESS maintain it's freedom. Through this freedom one can concentrate on the essentials. The offer is a purchasable right to be part of the "trust partnership" and is valid for one year. This entitles the member to certain inalienable rights which are:
- Special services, as i.e. the choice of a personel limited-number.
- Exclusive delivery (before the general public)
- Special conditions for the BLESS advanced line and other special products
- Cost savings on BLESS products
- Laid back consumption

Image

the advertisement features the designers' naked bodies

Limited to 30 subscriptions

Subscribers received a signed & numbered certificate

good thread germy. I love how cheeky but unironic bless is.

there's a store that supposedly stocks them in my neighborhood but I figure it's probably just one of the pouches or something.
