I didn't realize it at the time, but I think this fit—at the very least, the angle of the second photo—was an unconscious homage to @sknss

long clothes spiel in spoiler! didn't know where else to put it.
Spoiler:
Since around September I've been experimenting with a "10 piece wardrobe" which was my brainchild over the summer as I prepared to move from California to the east. Not including coats, accessories, and shoes, the 10 pieces I allowed myself were: 2 tees (1 graphic, 1 white), 2 collared shirts (1 patterned, 1 white), 2 pants (1 denim, 1 "more formal" whatever that means), 1 dress, 1 skirt, 1 cardigan, 1 jacket. It was an attempt to control my spending, especially the impulsive or not-thought-out kind, and really figure out what I need/want. I had a huge wardrobe back in California and it was almost overwhelming to get dressed every day, so it's been a nice bonus that I don't really have think too hard about what to wear in the mornings now. I went to a uniform school from age 11-17 so I especially wasn't accustomed to having to decide what to wear every day.

At the moment, I still have a backlog of clothes that I brought with me from California, but as I wear through each item in my current wardrobe it's being replaced by something in the boxes under my bed. It'll probably take me ass long to wear through my entire wardrobe (not sure I'm that tenacious) but at the moment I'm really enjoying not having to think in the morning and also not having to worry about buying new stuff--the whole "shop your own closet" concept. Maybe once I've done the impossible and worn out every single piece of clothing I have (or more likely sold/donated a good chunk of it), I will start working my wardrobe up thoughtfully with new purchases. This whole experiment has been quite successful in terms of making me think about how I used to consume clothing--namely the fact that the amount I bought ridiculously outstripped the amount I needed--and how I want to consume clothing more purposefully going forwards.

So anyway, I've been wearing basically the same several outfits for the past several months and none of my classmates have noticed LOL. I've since broken the strict 10-piece outline I set for myself but I still have under 15 items. (If anyone is interested I can post them somewhere?) Basically I still look the same every single day.

if you read the whole boring spoiler i luv u.
Had to post @tomsfood's sweatshirt at least once before sending it back to him:

my dad gave me his old burmese traditional jacket. These are traditionally worn over a mandarin-collar jacket and a longyi (basically a burmese version of indian sarong). The coolest thing about this jacket is that it's hand-woven cotton, hand-dyed in natural plant dyes and then even hand-stiched. And they have about 9 pockets..
I tried to wear this in a casual way with pants instead of the longyi.

New jacket in. Wearing double century denim is kinda costumey but I like it, it also looks much better in motion than as a standing pic (probably cause I take terrible pics in harsh lighting and pose stiff). Jacket is also super cropped which Im not quite comfortable with but I'll figure out better ways to wear it

I'm all about garments with pockets. I've been thinking of getting a straight lab coat to wear around, and the other day I wore an apron around Sur La Table for awhile while my gf shopped.

Came across this Engineered Garments Nail Apron. Holler @randomthought. Think its a cool layering piece, gives me tons of pockets, kind of looks just like a vest when under a jacket. It's kind of an odd length tho.

@mikey868y
i like the jacket

i like the pants and the boots

i'd like the shirt if it was an inch or two shorter with the jacket

as is can't go for it especially with the flare around your hips

nice find with the jacket though!
