Moment of silence please for the soon-to-be-demolished The Point, easily one of the rubbishest buildings in the world (and therefore worthy of our love)

@stappard_ What is this glorious mecca? Why is it being demolished? Is the only way to escape the futility of destruction to never bring anything new into this world?

It was the UK's first multiplex cinema when it opened in the mid 80s, but it turns out that this particular edifice was just, like, the reception or something, and the actual screens were in a shed round the back. A request for the building to be saved by Historic England was rejected on the grounds that it is "in essence, a large industrial shed unit". I used to see it when I went shopping with my mum in my youth and thought it looked well cool, and assumed they did laser tag or something in it.

my former intern got offered a job at an MK gallery ,possibly the one in the first picture, but waffled because... milton keynes. (to put this in context, there are no paid entry-level art world positions at all, anywhere). to a londoner it's always going to seem a comical place, but i feel a bit bad for it now i know the whole rest of the world laughs too.

Unsure if you are rolling with the theme of despondency or actually believe that.

this is good, but the only downside for me is that i have to fetch my own coffee these days, so 'despair' is probably too strong a word

so turns out a sometimes-gr8 director (clue: "attack ships on fire off the shoulder of orion") visited biennale and really liked my (previously unknown) friend's work. has asked to feature it in upcoming film. now i have to do my best saul goodman and negotiate over fees etc.
