get your fill of mullets, airplanes, gum, bombs (made from the gum), drugs, sex (not!), and love interests with the best hero to come out of any time period, ever.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit
http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Who_Framed_Roger_Rabbit/60027274?trkid=13462576

Director Robert Zemeckis seamlessly mixes live action with animation wizardry in this cinematic groundbreaker featuring Bob Hoskins as gruff gumshoe Eddie Valiant, who agrees to take the case of Roger Rabbit, a zany cartoon star framed for murder.

it's funny

it's erotic

it's animated (!)

what's not to like

Similar to Smallville, this tells the story of the Green Arrow, an affluent playboy who was stranded on an island and believed dead for 5 years who comes back with vengeance on his mind. Really enjoying it so far.

I don't have netflix right now, but there are some really great docs there.

Manda Bala—about corruption and kidnapping in Brazil. "Manda bala" means "send a bullet."

Exit Through the Gift Shop—Banksy produced doc about street art. May or may not be a hoax. Ends up making a larger point about the nature of hype.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi—about a world famous sushi maker in Japan. extremely feel good, will make you feel like you haven't achieved much in life

Girl Model—about the industry of recruiting models. Unsettling, depressing

    The Imposter—wtf

First Position—cheerful doc about ballet dancers

Freakonomics—a series of videos produced based off stories from the book of the same name.

The Great Happiness Space—about Japanese host clubs. Depressing as fuck.

These are not on netflix anymore, but still worth watching:

The Fog of War—about the life and times of former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, it's pretty cool

The September Issue—about Vogue and producing the September issue

stuff I watched on netflix recently that was good:

Upstream Color- science fiction, really strange and beautiful
Computer Chess- weird indie comedy about a chess programming tournament, shot in b/w on 1960s video technology
Beyond the Black Rainbow- super trippy homage to 1970s science fiction, amazing visuals and soundtrack, highly recommended
Oldboy- I like oldboy, whatever
House of Cards- rec'd up there, good if you're into political dramas, kind of falls apart toward the end but some good performances

I really liked it up until
Spoiler:
the alcoholic governor guy died, felt like the show lost some direction//became a bit too unbelievable and just decided that his plan was to be the vice president all along despite not mentioning anything about that before.
Also Zoe Bell and all the "TWITTER! NEW MEDIA! JOURNALISM IS CHANGING" stuff annoyed me to no end. Most of the performances were great though, Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, alcoholic guy, and Kevin SPacey's creepy right hand man guy were fantastic (sorry I'm shit at remembering names).

Twin Peaks
http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Twin_Peaks/70153408?trkid=13462103

I love this series so so much. It's a surreal and stylized 90s crime thriller/mystery/soap opera created by David Lynch and I highly recommend it.

it's funny you mention their use of smartphones, because i remember at one point in one of the later episodes, it was so obvious that they used a screen shot of the phone being called because when zoe picks up the phone, it was a photo that flipped, like when you turn the phone on it's side. the screen shot of the phone call just flipped right there right on the screen. HOW DOES THAT GET THROUGH!?
