can't wait to quit my job

been kinda bored lately

bit emo about moving out of my hometown / family home this week. felt very rushed since i didn't know whether my job this summer would be remote or not until only a few weeks ago. add to that the fact that i may or may not be back in the fall depending on whether school is in person; this feels like a very weird and uncertain transition period. mostly worried about regular things like counting the number of days i'm likely to spend with my parents if i'm moving out permanently (it's not a lot!), whether i've spent sufficient time with my grandparents & how many more visits i probably have left with them, and how long it'll take for me to feel at home outside of this city.

on the other hand this stage of my life has felt a bit drawn out, and it feels good to be starting something new. lots of exciting things ahead. just wish i had more lead time to properly prepare and appreciate the time with my parents and family. i spent the past few weeks stressed about finishing up projects / my thesis for my undergrad and only now starting to think about these things.

just some ramdom emo thoughts on this friday night.

i realize now that i am old and my knees cannot be in catcher's mode for an hour plus at a time anymore

The only time I ever felt “at home” in a place was one day in Nogales, AZ. I still think about that day and wonder if it was genuine. I find myself looking at properties and every time I picture staying <in current city> for the rest of my life I feel like I’m making a mistake.

I'd like to just live one place for a long time and put down "roots or whatever" but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be at the whims of the job market :'(

turns out i'm happy as hell in new city. new job rocks (part of my welcome package as an intern was an $600 arc'teryx shell wtf?) and i'm even thinking of staying longer and delaying grad school.. much to think about. having lived in the same city for 23 years i'm sure part of it is the novelty, but this city is objectively nicer / has more to do even in covid and i've been just so happy redacting around and soaking it all in. my roommates are pretty awesome too & have been good at showing me around and making me feel welcome which helps. \end of boring life update
