are we still doing chicago recs?

the food and beer options at the cell or whatever its called now are really good, probably the best in baseball at least in terms of, like, your typical sumemrtime baseball fare. i went to a mariners game a few weeks ago and they had din tai fung and local clams and stuff, which is a different level from, like, a chicago dog.

i think gino's is the best deep dish (as far as the chains), but it's a really divisive thing and i eat it like once every three years.

three dots and a dash is fun for groups if you want everyone to get smashed and take the edge off.

otherwise i guess just enjoy the lake?

Dunno what to think of this article. I doubt it shows anything anyone reading this doesn't already know. I'm honestly kind of shocked by the final paras that regurgitate the same concept of subculture's needing time in the dark before they're harvested by marketing that I used to regurgitate years ago after reading some billy gibson interviews. (I don't truly believe this anymore, but also would be hard pressed to tell you what I do think about subcultures. Maybe nothing)

Can someone younger than me tell me if there really is a "mass migration" of people away from "instagram" and "towards the shadow social" ? Personally I do not see it but then...I wouldn't would I.

Twitch does not count, obviously lol.

on the social media topic

everyone on tumblr is going crazy over the newly announced "tumblr post+" which is basically patreon for tumblr -- you can set up a private post stream only available to paying followers.

(beyond being a totally idiotic idea, the announcement/launch has been totally botched)

just makes me wonder when we'll get monetisation of care-tags -- we already have the spoiler tag, just make it pay-to-open. @rjb i want to engage in such shenanigans
Spoiler:

that payment scheme is O(n) and I am not rich, therefore, I prefer the O(1) deletion model

in my last post i said i would "start running again next week"
instead i found myself as a talent for one of my friend's music videos and after that was done i stayed on board to help out with styling

don't know if it's just COVID related regulations but wow, shooting every day for a week from 4-6 PM until 4-6 AM is extremely exhausting

just tiring, had jet lag without any of the travel and still "fixing" my body clock now

Every day I become less and less interested in production, both my own and the world in general. Sometimes I equate this to having less “vigor” for life than I did when I was younger. There is certainly an omnipresent weariness at the State of Things™️, as if the best course of action is to find a quiet and peaceful place to live out the End Times. To do less, to make less. To step back from constantly consuming/pushing/disposing etc.

It’s not so much that I’ve found newer, more “Zen” interests but rather I’ve become disenchanted with the realities of old ones. Ex. fashion, art making, typography, crafts. Is this depression? Or does a slower, more mindful pace just look like depression in the context of this modern life?
