I snapchatted cooking Canadian Thanksgiving and these were the results.
Note: Everything was vegetarian minus the turkey/gravy.

@odradek dry brine overnight. Stuffed with onions, bayleaf, and lemon. Herb butter with thyme, sage, parsley, other on the inside/outside of the skin.

Made pumpkin pie completely from scratch today

Definitely worth the extra work vs just using canned pumpkin

i love street food

Spoiler:
Image

this is my go-to, an oily crepe-like pancake with scallions and an egg

Image

weird wrap with chicken and ketchup, fun if i want to mix things up

Image

i call this one food poisoning because it's made on a big open table and no one washes their hands after touching the money. it's also the best so i eat it a lot anyway. there's something inside the bread that gives it its flavor, but i have no idea what it is, and honestly don't really want to know either

Image

a cross between oily pancake and chicken taco, except it's massive and made with tofu

Image

just discovered this bad boy yesterday, just lettuce, duck, special spicy sauce and an english muffin. yum

Image

my go to dumpling lady

Image

south korean spicy fried chicken, comes with sweet potato and these weird carb tubular goodies that i like to call earplugs.

I had a delicious late lunch at Koya on this rainy day. Koya is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants i've been to outside of Japan.

Pickled Beetroot

Roast Kabocha with black sesame and miso glaze (very tasty)
Image

Curry Udon with extra roast veggies (not sure why they gave me extra, maybe it was the rain).

YO!

Do you love sandwiches as much as I do?

Then you definitely checkout the website I just made and put up. It's a social network for sandwiches. It's definitely in development stages still and kinda buggy but wanted to show it to y'all. Feel free to give feedback!

So as of jan 1st I've decided to go vegetarian (I've been aware of the ethical issues behind meat for ages, but always enjoyed eating it too much to care)

my family are all very much meat-eaters so this'll mean me cooking for myself a lot more. what are your favourite cheap n quick veg/vegan recipes? Collected a few from this thread already (thanks @sknss!) but still on the prowl for more

@106-2 if i'm just cooking for myself, i'll usually have a combination of pasta or rice or couscous with whatever vegetables are in the fridge and some tinned beans. so stuff like pasta in tomato sauce with butterbeans, rice with leafy greens and tofu etc, couscous with fried courgettes, aubergines and chickpeas. that's quick, easy and cheap.

the rebuttal : http://mastbrothers.com/pages/press

I also understand that clay gordon is the primary source for the original quartz article, a dude who's been gunning for mast for basically as long as they've been around. I don't buy mast because I don't have a sweet tooth but and it tastes like all the other fancy chocolate, which is to say rich, dark and chalky. I also know firsthand that to rent a production facility in Williamsburg is expensive as shit, paying New Yorkers is expensive as shit, importing small quantities is EAS, etc-- which is only to say that mast is not laughing all the way to the bank because of inflated margins but because of the extent of their brand recognition, partnerships with huge vehicles like blue bottle, etc.

everyone I know involved in 'craft chocolate' production and distribution says basically the same thing, which is that mast's product isn't the best on the market but like starbucks, Sam Adams, and patron tequila they paved the way and created a space where people could have serious qualitative conversations about these products and how they're made etc.

a very level headed editorial : https://medium.com/@Upchurch/an-open-le ... .59tjby99q
