Gross.

Also, lunch today:

That looks delicious. Is the stew part just water, or has it got other stuff going on?

almost 100% water from rinsing out the canned beans and whatever juiciness came out of the can of diced tomatoes. usually i toss some beer in, too, but had nothing good on hand.

Mum and Dad's garden bears pears every year, but they never do anything with them. Today I went and picked them and made a chutney with them because I need to keep my mind off work

Peeling apples and pears. Exhausting.
Image

In the pan! ... I ended up needing a bigger pan. We had pears, apple, celery, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, onion, apple cider and I used date syrup instead of brown sugar.
Image

Jarring them. This was hot work but they should keep for 6 months.
Image

Final tally. The small ones will be gifts for my girlfriends family and I made a sauce from the left over liquid at the end.
Image

I made mum a cheddar and chutney bap straight after. I don't eat cheese, but she said it was a match made in heaven.

I made onion soup. Turned out kinda gross looking but momma always said it's what's on the inside that counts (it was quite tasty). Inspired by Bobbin's jarring extravaganza I also made tomatillo salsa and put it in little jars. No images sadly as I was (am) too tipsy to remember to take pictures.

thank you skns I have been after this picture for quite sometime.

very disappointing when a croissant isn't properly rich. I had a whole wheat croissant that was terrible

Bad croissants are enough to lessen the joy of good croissants.

ben you need to get some pain au chocolat down your good self

hey starfox, is there some kind of etiquette on going into a Korean restaurant for the free small plates and then only ordering a sprite.

I had an excellent chocolate croissant today

Image

4/5. very buttery and savoury crust, the chocolate could be better... my main regret is that I ate most of it before I took a photo.

my understanding is that 'chocolate croissant' is an American name for 'pain au chocolat'

i don't think they'd bring you any if you just ordered sprite. also most of the time the free stuff is like onions and lettuce and kimchi, which i wouldn't really just want to snack on. it's just like garnishes. occasionally there is a really gross mayonnaise-y salad. some places will give you some free soup and steamed egg, but that only comes like at the end of the meal.

stop posting this pic i'm hungry
i've never seen a chocolate croissant but it looks like it has more chocolate so that's an improvement

pastries sure are controversial. there is an internal debate in france between people who say pain au chocolat and people who say chocolatine
here is a useful map
