I've been doing the "focus" meditation in Headspace every morning and trying to do it in between games/points/sets. I think it has been helping. Either way I beat Dan 6-3, 6-3 last night in a frosty match up. The only source of heat? My second serve.

Nishikori vs Murray in the Davis Cup right now (being played in Birmingham even)

I think Murray will win but honestly find Murray's "Djokovich with screaming" play style no where near as much fun to watch as Nishikori.

taxi driver last week saw my racket and started asking me about tennis, he asked me how i got into it & i told him i started playing because i played top spin on the xbox and wanted to play the real thing, to which he said "i don't know quite what to say to that"

it was the last university tennis session tonight & a girl told me i looked like i'd walked straight out of a wes anderson film

I played tennis five days in a row, crushed a friend on sunday 6-2 4-0 (she retired) then went against DAN immediately got broken twice to get to 4-0, fought my way back to 4-4 then lost 6-4.

I know I can beat DAN but I have to be playing aggressively and I just wasn't for some reason. Could not access the KILL portion of my brain.

So I'm on the search for the most #aesthetic racket on the market — where is the Common Projects of rackets? Most rackets look like a damn Nascar car rn.

Found this Lactose limited edition racket which is lovely. Though it's stupid money, sold out and still got too many logos.

Head will do a custom paint job on any racquet you want. So you can pic one on something aside from the paintjob (which would be an insane reason to pick a racquet)

I'm actually on the lookout for some new shorts. My sports direct ones have gone way too tight on the thighs or something.

I also want these:

but they cost £18 so forget it.

To say that Wintour is a tennis fan understates how central tennis is to her world, and her image. The editor of US Vogue arrives at Supreme, New York’s Midtown tennis club every weekday morning at 5.45am for an hour of tennis before work. She is a close friend of Roger Federer, sitting in his box for matches and having him along as her plus-one at fashion shows.

Thinking of getting this bag, is it too tactical for recreational play though?

Got out hitting balls the past few days. Working on form, but happy to discover I can still hit a spin serve. It's the little things.

Also, considering local clubs. Going to drills this weekend, and then deciding. One I checked out today described it as a Type A club, which is motivating for me but not relaxing. Have to decide what I am looking for from the experience. Can always relax on my local courts.

https://www.change.org/p/novak-djokovic ... -pepe-imaz

This is quite droll and I wonder if some of the no competition crew would find it interesting. A few Djokovich "fans" have started a petition for him to get rid of his spiritual advisor, who they believe is bringing down his performance.

Novak Djokovic had an amazing first half of 2016, completing career Grand Slam, holding a poker of GS trophies at the same time! Never the less, he managed to loose the huge lead of 8035 points (June 7, 2016) to Andy Murray at the end of the year. It is impossible for any outsider to single out one single factor causing such unexpected, extraordinary outcome. However, we firmly believe that Pepe Imaz and his teachings are a strong contributing factor to this downfall.

This is the petition for us believing that Novak Djokovic's new spiritual coach Pepe Imaz is having a negative impact on Novak's game, affecting his mental state in a contra-productive way. This is the petition for us believing that excluding Pepe Imaz from Novak Djokovic team would be a positive step forward in Novak's career. We do not claim having a replacement solution. We just hate seeing Novak's talent, fire and passion for the game being wasted, not realized to it's full potential, moreover hindered from the same by following questionable teachings.

We have been following Novak from the start. We have seen him display unprecedented fighting spirit, passion, athleticism, willingness to do whatever it takes to overcome and in many ways surpass some of the best tennis players ever, like Federer, Nadal, Murray. Above all, we have been witnessing his willingness to WIN!

However, now according to Pepe's teachings, willingness to win is "wrong", as it is based on a (wrong) assumption that one strives to win in order to gain other peoples love and respect, fearing loosing?! (see the full teaching here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAtgxaJmXL0&t Moreover, this whole teaching appears only to be based on Pepe's own negative experience of competing as a professional tennis player back in the days, and the distress it gave HIM.

Is fearing to loose what brought Novak to the absolute top in a most competitive sport in the world, in its most competitive era ever???!!! We don't think so.

How about willingness to win as a part of being the best you can be, as a life-goal comprised of constant improvement and self fulfillment. Not for the sake and love of others but for your own sake. We believe this to be the most common drive with top professional athletes. We believe this to be the case behind Novak's success as well.
Consequently, based on Pepe's arguably false and unproven assumptions (behind the drive to win and character of winning itself) Novak has nothing to gain and everything to loose by continuing being part of Pepe's teachings.

Pepe certainly seem to be a very positive and lovable person. His teaching sure have helped, and will continue to help lots of individuals in their personal development. However we strongly doubt and question it's effect on a professional athlete at the absolute top, like Novak Djokovic is.
If you agree with us, sign our petition! Hopefully, this will reach Novak and at least make him think twice.
