Meetup is still a go for 19th and 20th. Plan is to do touristy stuff (museums, walking) Saturday and if people want to stick around til Sunday we'll do shopping then.

If you would be interested in getting an Airbnb please let me know, need to figure out numbers and see what the options/cost would be.

Survey link if you've not taken it

@karentags and I will be in town the 19th and 20th for pitchfork. I think we're planning on coming in earlier in the days, since most of the bands we want to see start around 4 PM. It'd be great to see you guys!

Just a friendly reminder we're still on for a week from this weekend! I've got two people interested in Airbnb so far, which if that's the case they're welcome to just crash at my dorm (if they want).

@alby the only plan really is cultural/touristy stuff Saturday and shopping Sunday. Had some ideas (Art Institute, Field Museum, Millennium Park) but nothing set in stone.

okay cool cool. i've only been to chi once and I didn't get pizza so if there is a dope place you know of that we might be able to get one meal at that would be cool. i'll be there both days until like ~3pm then to pitchfurk

Hey if everyone who's planning to come wants to PM me, we can exchange numbers and the other boring stuff.

I'm thinking we start round 11am Saturday at Millenium Park, if anyone else has ideas feel free to toss them out.

Might have to ditch the meetup :( I'm pretty sick right now and going to a festival will be hard enough, never mind pretending to be cool around internet strangers. I'll be going shopping with my friend that morning though so maybe I'll run into you guys.

Loop area: Barney's, Independence, George Greene, Suitsupply (building is cooler than the suits though), Patagonia, Jil, Gallery Aesthete, Haberdash, Nike, Ralph Lauren. I know I'm forgetting a bunch so forgive me.

Wicker Park: RSVP, Apt No 9, Mildblend, and St. Alfred's.

Some of the folks that used to work at Haberdash just opened a new store called Notre but it's pretty far north.

^ pretty much most of it, but here are a few more and descriptions of previous ones :

Barney's, Saks Fifth, Nordstrom, Apt No. 9 :
of course the bigger retailers. nordstrom on michigan/grand has some pretty cool stuff in it.

Haberdash / Notre :
Haberdash is mostly a lot of heritage-y brands. aldens, gitman vintage, moncler, forgot the rest really.
notre seems like a cool shop, but it's pretty far off. never been yet.

Independence :
(come visit me/timothy). EG, Post Overalls, Oak Street Bootmakers, Kapital, etc. EG FWK also here as well.

St. Alfreds, RSVP Gallery :
st. alfreds has great sneaker releases and pick up cool brands. (UC, Bedwin & The Heartbreakers, Bounty Hunter, Acronym, Visvim, etc.)
rsvp also carries C.E. and all of those other brands, but the mark-up is fairly high.

George Greene :
chrome hearts, MA+, Thom Browne, and luxe suiting. A LOT of chrome hearts which brings in their customer base. (wealthy chinese consumers)

Gallery Aesthete, Jil Sander, Y-3/Adidas Concept Store, Oliver Peoples :
all of these are located on oak street.
gallery aesthete has the likes of rick owens, julius, individual sentiments, margiela, kuboraum, etc.
y-3/adidas concept store is fairly small but has good stock. raf simons x adidas, yohji x adidas, rick x adidas, and y-3 clothing.

Steven Alan :
steven alan house brand, acne, EG, shoes like pottery, wide range of glasses.

MildBlend & Supply Co. :
good shop if you're looking for denim. a lot of american/japanese selvedge denim here.
also some cool backpacks and porter things occasionally.

Sir & Madame :
bunch of cool brands that are pretty hard to find. mark mcnairy, LVC, etc.

Uprise :
great skate shop, sometimes has some cool things in. they used to carry palace i believe.

Meyvn :
new store that opened up in logan square, has brands like dana lee, common projects, etc. definitely worth checking out.

ikram :
mostly (if not all) womenswear pieces. A LOT of cool stuff in here like Undercover, Junya, Comme, sacai, etc...
___________________

but yeah, mostly oak street area are where all of the boutiques are located.
they're scattered around, but sometimes some shops can be surprising.

I accidentally ran into @KLF and @pei today at Target... whoa!!! :!:

that was the first time i've 'seen someone from the internet' without planning it.

Anyone want to get a drink or coffee or look at shops (i don't really like shopping to be honest although it would be fun to go to the flagship luxury stores for kicks) in December?

i miss chicago most because its music scene isn't just confined to cramped cellar shows where being taller than 5'7" will cause you to have to stand like a hunchback and develop scoliosis

rip

@eufemism yep, kalamazoo (k college, to be more exact). actually met someone who periodically comes to c-t but prefers lurking to posting, which was still nice
