I don't only wear karate pants I swear.
Also I asked my friend to take pics and gave her very specific directions but the above was still the clearest picture of the outfit she took (also looking stoned). So here are so extra fun ones to clarify. (smiling)

Think you need something for visual interest, this really just looks like a big amorphous blob to me in a way that is neither a) flattering or b) interesting. I really like JJVE but so few people seem able to pull it off, it's a really hard brand to wear I think, and when you are creating uninteresting silhouettes with its oversized proportions it can really just look like weird pyjamas. I'm guessing the fabrics are probably pretty interesting in person but that's really not apparent in the pic, and if there wasn't a brand list I think the photo would have even less merit.

Some of your JJVE fits have been really cool, I really liked this one:

I think that one really shines to me because the silhouette is interesting, the midlayer breaks up the amorphous blob silhouette and the colour contrast between the layers highlights both. Some food for thought

ok, masturbatory critique ahead. photo stuff aside, there are two big things setting aside the lookbook shot and your shot. big one is the lack of shoes. the texture on the pants is really apparent in that lookbook shot and looks like something you'd wear at the beach, so the bare feet looks good whereas the birks don't seem to mix in well. some kind of south american peasant shoe seems like it would fit well (though i find myself recommending that option a lot). the second and more conceptual and therefore wank-y idea is that the lookbook shot has very vertical lines in the pants, both a result of the cuffs folding the fabric and the excess fabric in the crotch hanging down, which is then contrasted by an over and across upswept fabric of the hooded cloak/cape/coat thing. your photo has the vertical lines in the pants feeding into the smooth shoes, with no break, plus the shirt also has vertical lines, sweeping down and out from the shoulder, giving the impression of width into the hips and then all the way through the legs. this plays into what raags mentioned about the thing he posted: you've got the bag breaking up the vertical lines, the waistline breaking up the vertical lines, and the pants coming to a more complete stop.

this is, of course, all just theoretical hand-waving, but i'd be interested to see if how these pieces would work if you could break up the very up-and-down lines you've got going.

good look, i appreciate that you wore lots of different colours without it being 'loud'

hey birdinflight, just roll them instead of cuffing or whatever.

I bet overall that looks nice in person. probably not the best look to take photos of though. it's never going to look 'right'

great look, really cheery. I think you should wear looser pants and clogs or something to get that 'American hippie/nature guy filtered through japan' look.
