are adidas SEEULATER's based on a vintage design? or are they just their own thing
  • 11

I think that it is not. Cowichan, etc., If you prefer a thick knit, how about you? It is cool there is atmosphere!

this is a photo of the OG pair; i believe these are EQT era but fell under Torsion umbrella?
the newer iterations on the slimmer soles (Torsion CU which you can still find on ebay et al i think) are based on these
which then leads us to the upcoming adiwhitemountaineering torsion seeulater or whatever they're called, which is essentially a slimmer/possibly heat-sealed type upper on this sole again. i think that's the genetics.

old adidas trail output golden, foreal. parse through the old/weird sneaker thread on sufu and you should be able to connect the dots thanks to the collective effort that was/is that thread. still waiting for white mountaineering to redo eqt badlanders; 10/10 would die for

Check out the Veja V-10s:

Got that NB jizz which I like but moreover is made of recycled or sustainable materials which is something that interests me a lot lately

Wild rubber, recycled cotton and leather tho?

Working out what is actually "sustainable" is such a pain.

They literally say on their website that leather is unsustainable by definition and they don't know where their leather comes from. What a joke.

LEATHER
ABOUT TO BECOME COWBOYS’
Leather is not made under fair trade principals. In essence, it cannot be. Indeed, cattle breeding needs extended fields and the relevant financial inputs.
Leather producers are not marginalized. Veja works with organic cotton and wild rubber producers, their situation is not comparable to the leather producers.
It is difficult to work directly with leather producers and it is quite impossible to be sure of the leather’s origin or the way cattle have been treated.
However we know that the cattle do not come from the Amazon where cattle breeding is a main factor in deforestation.
Our ultimate objective is to be knowledgeable and in control of our whole leather supplier chain, from the cows nurturing and living conditions to the tanning and dying process of the leather.

Working out what is sustainable isn't as much of a headfuck if you think about it rationally. No matter what anyone says animal products are not sustainable. In that instance an animal is a machine that you have to feed plants to for years, kill and skin or shear - saying nothing about the horror of it all.

Im so disappointed in Veja for using leather at all. They use it because its easy - and the problem is not just 'deforestation'.

Vans Japan has some great looking shoes for F/W 16. I love the toe cap Eras and the rain camo ones below. Just need a proxy for them.

anyone own a pair of vans with the Ultracush (ya, i know...) cupsole?

absent mindedly picked this one up off the shelf the other day at roden gray and was shocked at how light it was

Image

definitely not buying a pair but I'm curious how they hold up

also curious how the lab dunk lows are if anyone happens to see them

@fun_yunchables these were a cupsole and the product description has "Lightweight UltraCush™ rubber outsoles" in it. it was squishy in a way that normal vans soles aren't as well
